Overview

Proper communication is critical to a successful life after high school. Regardless of career choice, good communication skills are critical in the workplace.

No single instructional method works for all students, so we utilize a variety of approaches and resources to ensure the success of every student. 

Our curriculum is developed from many sources, including the Common Core State Standards Initiative, the National Council of Teachers of English, and experienced faculty. Each year of study focuses on a different aspect of literature

  • Grade 9

    Various Genres of Literature including short stories (fiction and nonfiction), novels, poetry, dramas, and epics. This course of study explores different aspects of literature and provides a solid foundation in literature, which will be further explored and enriched in subsequent years.
  • Grade 10

    World Literature that originates in nations other than the United States, including historically and culturally significant literature from Ancient Greece and Rome, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas.
  • Grade 11

    American Literature that represents many of the historical periods of the United States from the colonial period through the twentieth century. 
  • Grade 12

    British Literature that originates in England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. This course explores many of the major periods of British literature between the Anglo-Saxon period and the twentieth century.
