About

The Business CTE program is designed to prepare students for the competitive business atmosphere that exists in today’s work environment. All business students are exposed to Microsoft® Office, which enables them to earn a Microsoft® Office Specialist (MOS) certification. This achievement provides future employers and educators with an important indicator of the students’ level of expertise using the Microsoft® Office Suite.

The Business Program provides students with the ability to apply business theory concepts in a variety of ways. These include IMPACT Philly service leadership projects, the SJU Stock Market Challenge, DECA Competition and operating the Mercy CTE School Store. Mercy CTE is one of the only high schools to teach about the design thinking process in a hands on way. Through project based learning students gain logical and critical thinking, empathy, creative problem solving, strategic planning, and clear communication skills. Students are introduced to accounting and put their skills to use by managing the school store and fundraising events.
