Mercy Career & Technical High School "Mercy CTE" prides itself on incorporating the latest technology throughout our school.
Our campus is a wireless campus thanks to work of our electrical students and computer technician students. Each classroom is equipped with a SmartBoard and a mounted projector. Our students carry a netbook 24/7; the netbooks are used in class to access online resources, share information, create content, and take notes.
Mercy CTE is a Google school. Students learn about Google Docs beginning in Grade 9 and learn to collaborate on projects with other students and teachers. Students are taught to use technology respectfully and to have a good online presence. Social media is a topic in the curriculum. Students learn to use it in a responsible way, and they are encouraged to use it to promote their own work and causes. Mercy’s goal is to graduate a good digital citizen.
Besides a website, fans can like us on facebook, follow us on twitter, connect professionally on LinkedIn, and subscribe to an RSS feed to get our late-breaking news posts. Students and parents are kept current 24/7 regarding student progress through a web-based student information system - PowerSchool. Our students are moving to eBooks for their courses. During this school year our freshmen accessed their math book online.
Our teachers continually receive technology training in order to stay current. They integrate technology in the academic courses and the career and technical programs in very creative ways. Lately, our teachers have been learning apps for the iPad and then using the iPad cart with their students. Ever-changing technology is the driver which pushes us to be life-long learners; something we want all of our students to become.
