The Business Education career and technical education program is designed to prepare students for the kind of competitive business atmosphere existing in today’s work environment. All business students are exposed to Microsoft® Office, to enable students to earn a Microsoft® Office Specialist (MOS) certification. This provides future employers and educators with an important indicator of the students’ level of expertise using the Microsoft® Office Suite.
Mercy CTE is an official training center for the Microsoft® Office Certification Program. Included in the Business Education Program are courses in design thinking, general business theory, accounting, computer applications, office technology, and the use of social networking for promoting business and networking with professionals.
Students learn logical and critical thinking, creative problem solving, strategic planning, and clear communication skills. The program curriculum combines traditional academics with service-focused projects, designed to positively impact the Mercy CTE community and the City of Philadelphia.
Students participate in the Co-operative Education Program during senior year by working on-site in various business areas.
- Property Management
- Microsoft® Office Specialist Certification in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- All sophomores will be Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 10 certified.
